What should be the word count of the poem I want to submit for Poetry Competition ’18?

Query

Dear Ed,

What should be the word count of the poem I want to submit for Poetry Competition ’18?

Farah, Rawalpindi

I’d like to know if there’s any restriction regarding the topic and length of a poem for the Poetry Competition.

Jawwad Ashar

Can we submit Urdu poems?

Rumaisa Khalid

Where should I send my poem for Poetry Competition?

Faiz Mehmood

I sent my poem, but I never got a reply from you guys. Can I know the reason?

Faryal Shehzad

There is no particular topic for the competition; just keep the audience (youth) in mind. Poems submitted to the competition should not be more than 300 words.

Us is an English magazine; we do not accept submissions in Urdu.

You can email your poems to uspoetscorner@gmail.com; mention Poetry Competition in the subject line.

We do not reply to individual emails. Keep following Us magazine to know if your work has been selected.

Salam Eddy,

I read the book review “A message of hope” by Hiba Nauman. I’m convinced that Amina’s Voice can be read by everyone, and I’ve added it to my reading list 2018.

Please do publish other book reviews as well.

Dear Us team

I have always wanted to write to you. I have been a keen reader of this Us magazine and every Friday I wait for it.. This week’s cover story “Less is more” was really interesting to read. It has all the ingredients for increasing one’s look with just a single accessory. I am also a very big fan of simplicity and all the things that have been discussed in this story are quite relatable to me. It’s amazing how the writer has portrayed and covered everything in a single write up that was quite interesting and fun to read. This story tells that you don’t need to spend a lot of money in order to look cool and classy. So convey my heartiest appreciation to the writer of this story.

Reflection

Narrated by Abu Said Al-Khudri

The Prophet (S.A.W) said, "Amongst the men of Bani Israel there was a man who had murdered ninety-nine persons. Then he set out asking (whether his repentance could be accepted or not). He came upon a monk and asked him if his repentance could be accepted. The monk replied in the negative and so the man killed him. He kept on asking till a man advised to go to such and such village. (So he left for it) but death overtook him on the way. While dying, he turned his chest towards that village (where he had hoped his repentance would be accepted), and so the angels of mercy and the angels of punishment quarrelled amongst themselves regarding him. Allah ordered the village (towards which he was going) to come closer to him, and ordered the village (whence he had come), to go far away, and then He ordered the angels to measure the distances between his body and the two villages. So he was found to be one span closer to the village (he was going to). So he was forgiven."
