They have to study even if they are consultants. But Marium Usman, a fourth year MBBS student, has debunked this myth. Her brand, Art Gallery, is a proof that aesthetic sense is not limited to artists.
She has been making beautiful customized things for events like birthdays and weddings for a year. To promote her work, Marium started posting her ads on Sheops, a Facebook group.
Looking back, Marium admits that the take off was not easy. “Initially, it was difficult to get orders, since I was new and didn’t have many samples to show. You see, people always want to see some work samples before placing orders. So, after a lot of hard work, I started getting orders. People really appreciated my work and then the journey began and here I am, working as a successful entrepreneur,” she laughs and adds, “I am a medical student, but Alhamdulillah I am handling both things really well.”
One of Marium’s specialties is the beautiful nikah pens she crafts. She started making nikah pens on the advice of a friend who encouraged and motivated her to make customized pens for the nikah signing ceremong. “Initially, I was hesitant but then managed to make some samples. People liked my work and I started getting orders and now I have delivered almost 50 nikah pens in the span of one year only and for that I am really grateful.”
It’s not always easy to get the things needed for her work. She has to spend hours at times to find out the required materials, but her dedication helps her overcome this difficulty. Marium gives credit to her father who helps her in finding the materials she needs. “I would like to thank my father who has always been my big support when it comes to finding materials,” she asserts.
Apart from nikah pens, Marium also makes box explosion cards, birthday stuff, bridal and baby shower stuff, etc. About her future goals, Marium says that she wants to expand her work and in future she would like to see herself working on big platforms.
