HeyEd,

The cover story “Winds of change”(June 23) was wonderful. The fact that young transgenders have been given a chance to express themselves in a youth forum for the Pakistani youth speaks volumes about the progress we have made over the years. While some transgenders had heartbreaking Eid stories, others like Kami Sid’s and Sumair’s were heartening. Kudos to Shermeen Zuberi and Maheen Aziz!

Aoa Eddy,

“In conversation with Qirat Baber” was such fun! I’m such a huge fan of hers, and this interview is definitely gold for readers like me! It’s one thing following them on social media, and another reading about them in your favourite magazine. You guys made my day!

Salam Editor,

I read Us magazine regularly. I found all sections of the magazine well-balanced and informative.

I also read ‘’Reflection’’ which contains repeated matter from Sahih Bukhari. I hope you publish a new hadith every week.

Dear Editor,

Last week’s issue contained a guide for the readers on how to avoid online scams, which I think is quite useful for young readers. Gone are the days when Little Red Riding Hood was cautioned not to talk to strangers and stay on the right path. Parents should help their children stay safe in this digital world.

Other than that, I think Us magazine should publish stuff on history as well. History is full of exciting stories; from the plundering voyages of the Vikings to the marvellous discoveries of Ibn Battuta on his journey around the world, we have so much to learn from history.

Hello Ed,

Really enjoyed reading Ali Kazmi’s interview! He is a talented actor and I loved his acting in the movie “Dobara Phir Se”. He is pretty good at performing negative roles so can’t wait to see his performance in Qandeel Baloch’s TV biopic. And, it is great to know his favourite book was The Fountainhead; this book is truly inspiring.

“My Teeanage Years” section should be published regularly.

Hi Editor,

“Miracle of Oval” by Nabeel Naqvi was a treat! I loved how the writer analyzed the performances of the key players in the team. And the imagery used for describing the moves of the players was amazing. It felt like I was reading literature: “Amir again, charging in like a hungry lion towards a herd of wildebeest, the blood of Sharma’s wicket dripping from his teeth.”

Thanks for the piece!

Hello Eddy,

I also have a confession to make. I hate my colleagues who know that I am on diet, but still they come to my desk with a bag of your favourite crisps. Then they say this to my face, “Oh, you are on a diet; I just forgot” and turn away without offering you those crisps.  This actually feels like torture!

Most of the time, my colleagues do this deliberately to make me feel miserable.

US MAILReflection

Narrated by ‘Amir bin Rabi’a (R.A)

I saw the Prophet (S.A.W) on his mount praying nawafil by nodding his head, whatever direction he faced, but Allah’s Apostle never did the same in offering the compulsory prayers. Narrated Salim: At night’Abdullah bin ‘Umar (R.A) used to offer the prayer on the back of his animal during the journey and never cared about the direction he faced. Ibn ‘Umar said, “Allah’s Apostle used to offer the optional prayer on the back of his Mount facing any direction and also used to pray the Witr on it but never offered the compulsory prayer on it.”
