POETS’ CORNER

Poems forever

Love in autumn

Robert Louis Stevenson

In the other gardens

And all up in the vale,

From the autumn bonfires

See the smoke trail!

Pleasant summer over,

And all the summer flowers,

The red fire blazes,

The grey smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!

Something bright in all!

Flowers in the summer,

Fires in the fall!

Painted by tears

By Abid Agha

On a misty, cool evening,

As grey spread its shadows,

I took my brush and paint box

And began to draw your image on a canvas.

Once, twice - even thrice -

My creativity couldn’t complete the lines of your face.

I was perplexed...

Once again, I held the brush in my hand

And tried to finish,

But nothing surfaced -

Only swirls of colour filled the frame.

Helpless and frustrated,

I threw the colours and canvas to the floor,

Fell silent, and wept in dismay.

Tears streaked the canvas -

And something began to form.

As I gazed at the canvas,

My tears, tracing their own path,

Drew your portrait -

Adorable, just as you are.

When my hands gave up, my heart took over -

And painted you with love alone.

Hope and desire

By Rumaissa Chouhan

I fell again, and again, and again.

I became weak in my knees.

My eyes, once shining, grew lifeless.

My lips forgot how to smile.

My confidence? Shattered.

And my heart? It drowned.

I tried to cry but could not bring myself to.

I could not get up - but I had to,

For time waits for none.

I was there, wiping away the blood

And hiding the scars,

In an attempt to build a façade,

For the world is cruel to the one who gives in.

And so, I hid myself from the world.

I did not give in, will not give in.

Everything lost might be found again -

Not here, but there.

I might fall here, but not there.

That leap of faith

By Eeman Sohail

When the staggering reality of existence weighs you down,

When the colours of the spectrum gently wane to nothingness,

When the vast expanse of the sea seems insurmountable,

When life feels akin to dandelions gently dispersing,

Take that leap of faith,

For beyond this ephemeral beauty lies eternal bliss.

For the light of the Divine will become your lighthouse,

For Him, the sea knows no bounds;

For Him, time changes its trajectory.

For the One around whom the cosmos orchestrates in synchrony -

Destiny and fate seem a mere commodity.
