Increase taxes on tobacco
According to academics and researchers, Pakistan has one of the lowest rates of taxation on tobacco products in the world. Due to this, deaths due to smoking are increasing at an extreme extent in Pakistan.
Tobacco has been destroying the country, and hindering its development. Tobacco causes multiple diseases which not only disturb the health sector but also present a bad image of the country. Cheaper prices are the main reason that people are more involved in drug addiction.
The government should implement high taxes to discourage smokers and reduce the overall usage of tobacco products. It is an appeal to the government to put sufficient taxes in order to reduce the use of tobacco and the number of smokers. High prices of tobacco can act as a deterrence as not many young people can afford to buy expensive cigarettes.

Hi Ed,
Hope you had a good Eid celebration with your loved ones. This week’s magazine was normal. I enjoyed the poems as usual but the thing I didn’t like was the Humayun Saeed interview. I am not being cynical and I know you introduced him as an inspiration for the young ones. But after seeing him for the past seventeen years, there was nothing new in the interview. I have a suggestion that you should do interviews with young authors, Us poets, scientists, illustrators, and normal people from other aspects of life other than acting or singing. I will love to know about all the simple but talented teens. Hope you will give it a chance.
