He is undoubtedly one of Pakistan’s biggest stars; his voice has carried Pakistan across continents and how! Back in the country after a whirlwind world tour (he lives between Lahore and Dubai these days), Atif Aslam made a quick stop in Karachi to celebrate the success of Ho Mann Jahaan’s soundtrack, which has been creating melodic ripples across the country. Atif, being the final act of the evening, surprised the audience with not just his track from the film – ‘Dil Kare’ - but with a selection of some of his biggest hits, including ‘Lamhe’, ‘Doorie’ and ‘Meri Kahani’.

The crowd wouldn’t let him stop and he obliged his fans, carrying the concert a little past midnight. What astounded everyone, however, was the fact that he chose to sing ‘Hona Tha Pyar’ from Bol. Bol was Mahira Khan’s first Pakistani film (many people erroneously believe it was Bin Roye) in which she was cast opposite Atif Aslam in a supporting role.

Another big Atif Aslam moment from the evening was the star paying respect to Mai Dhai, who performed ‘Sarak Sarak’ to thunderous applause. Atif has performed with the rustic singer and has tremendous respect for her as she reminds him of “sounds of the soil.” The touching moment when he went up to the stage to pay his respects reminded us of Atif and Reshma at the Lux Style Awards. This is what legends are made of.
