While most of the fashion world saw Maha Burney nurture every stage of her baby bump (counting down the arrival of her and Nadir Firoz Khan’s baby boy), actress Aamina Sheikh chose to remain tight-lipped about her pregnancy till the very end.

While most of the fashion world saw Maha Burney nurture every stage of her baby bump (counting down the arrival of her and Nadir Firoz Khan’s baby boy), actress Aamina Sheikh chose to remain tight-lipped about her pregnancy till the very end. Her sudden disappearance from the scene had many curious but while most people thought of it as just another trip to the States or a project she is keeping under wraps, not many could imagine that it was motherhood scheduled on her calendar.

Meissa Mirza, Mohib and Aamina’s little girl, was born on August 11 but the news was only recently revealed by Aamina, who shared a heart-warming picture of the couple with the baby on her Facebook profile. Maha and Nadir welcomed their bundle of joy, named Zayden, last week. Needless to say both couples are enjoying the new turn in their life and friends and family have taken to social media to congratulate them on the arrival of the new member. Instep, too, wishes them the very best for many sleepless nights ahead but just as many memories as well.

Mawra Hocane blasts Shaan on the #BanMawra controversy

He may be a patriot but he also has this innate quality of having his foot in his mouth – often ticking off other artists with his crude public comments (read: Shaan vs Ali Zafar). The recent one of his victims is television artist Mawra Hocane, who recently signed three films in Bollywood and is currently shooting for one in South Africa.

By now, we all know the Phantom mammoth that unfolded on social media in the past week however it seems Mawra was living much in the dark (despite being active on social media) and in an attempt to promote peace and stop hate between the two nations, she tweeted in favour of Phantom saying that it’s better to first watch the film and then decide if its anti-Pakistan or not. Clearly this did not go down well with Pakistani star Shaan who took to Twitter to initiate a #BanMawra campaign. Now as the story develops, Mawra hasn’t been the one to take Shaan’s comments lightly and has fired back in what can be called a ruthless open letter to the actor. The actress has taken this opportunity to remind Shaan that he being a senior actor should support and mentor young artists and help correct their mistakes instead of spewing hate and ripping them off a good reputation.

“Honestly I’m only just a kid in front of the 55-year-old Shan Shahid and instead of taking pride in bashing kids less than half his age he should become a mentor and try and fix things for us, if we make mistakes,” she wrote. She also revealed that she was unaware of the sensitivity of the issue while being busy in her work outside Pakistan and apologized, adding that she doesn’t need to prove the love she has for her country. “… You’ve no right to judge me and make a statement about me being any less patriotic for bashing me won’t make you anymore a patriot. You know what Mr Shan Shahid I will still rise every morning, work as hard, still pursue my dream, still go after what I’d like to achieve and still keep my head high. I don’t need to love/like people like you to be a patriot. My love for my country and my people doesn’t need your approval.”

While fans have been supportive of Mawra, many have still bashed her for her initial stance that she later detracted from. Similarly many have accused her of supporting Phantom only to anchor her career in Bollywood while others have even expressed their disbelief on her being so aloof of the circumstances. It is obvious that nobody in their right frame of mind would support Phantom especially when Indian critics, too, have rejected the film at large but what more controversies will the film pave way for remains to be seen.

Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jesia’s answer to divorce rumours

The picture of Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jesia at the Lakme Fashion Week on August 29 speaks more than a thousand words. The celebrity couple, who have been held to a continuous trial over their reported rocky relationship and rumours of Arjun’s affair with Hrithik Roshan’s ex-wife Sussanne Khan, were spotted happily posing for pictures and sitting next to each other at the A-list event.

In March this year, an angry Arjun had slammed leading tabloids after they reported that the Rampals had filed for divorce after being ‘spotted’ at a Bandra court. The actor now says he prefers not to react. “I don’t have any views as I feel people have more views than me,” Arjun told IANS here when asked about his views on the rumours related to his personal life.

A far cry from his tweets in March when he told the press to ‘mind their own business’ and accused them of ‘cooking up stories, also saying it was actually models Marc Robinson and Waluscha De Sousa at the Bandra court. “The truth about Bandra court? The couple was old friend Marc Robbinson and Wallucha. Oops they got their facts all wrong again. #fakepress,” he tweeted.
