Just around the time when supermodel Gisele Bundchen is ready to take her last turn on the catwalk at the age of 34, it is good to see that Pakistani models have also started taking alternative career paths seriously. Just around the time when supermodel Gisele Bundchen is ready to take her last turn on the catwalk at the age of 34, it is good to see that Pakistani models have also started taking alternative career paths seriously. Following the footsteps of her predecessors and contemporaries alike, the model Fia Khan is all set to make her acting debut on the small screen.

The announcement of her new venture was made through a personalized video on Instagram. “I am doing my first television drama and am very excited. The cast will be revealed very soon just like a surprise,” she shared with her fans. The television series, which is titled Jiya Jala Jaayere, will also see actor Faysal Qureshi wear the producer’s hat and will be directed by Furqan Khan who is known for his drama Adhoori Aurat. So far the plot and the cast of the drama have been kept under wraps but we sure do hope that it’s not another depiction of the victimized woman in love.

While it’s refreshing to see models branch out into different creative ventures, we also wish they would consider them seriously as their post-modelling career or retirement plan. Too many models continue to walk the ramp way past the appropriate age!

Hop aboard the Mediterranean cruise with

the Dil Dhadakne Do trailer

With an ensemble cast that has continued to mesmerize the audience since its announcement, Dil Dhadakne Do can easily be touted as a highly anticipated film. Since the release of the film posters almost a week ago, fans have been led to expect a breath-taking film trailer, and the film’s team sure has delivered.

Shot on a Mediterranean cruise, the narrative follows the dysfunctional Mehra family through their marital trials and tribulations. The film, however, gives out feel-good vibes that entices the audience in a flash.

One can notice some ‘inspirations’ that may have been taken from Hollywood, (read Meet The Fockers). Nonetheless, all is forgiven because who doesn’t want to see another exciting and adventurous Zoya Akhtar film?

From Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma’s bohemian-chic looks to the suave style of Anil Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh, the trailer screams fashion statements. The acting, we feel, is not up to par. The loud and flamboyant performances in some parts can be a little off-putting.

Though the trailer seems well made and quite interesting with its quirky dialogues and comedic antics, it makes one think there should be more. Perhaps it is Zoya Akthar’s deliberate attempt to leave the audience wanting until the film comes out.

Scheduled for release on 5th June 2015, the film seems like a solid addition to the Zoya Akhtar filmography. Now one has to just wait and see if Dil Dhadakne Do can actually be a truly deserving successor to the super-hit Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
