It was just on Sunday, March 1, that Salt Arts - the music and arts production company that started operations in 2015 - crossed the mark of 91 shows. With the mission to celebrate Southasia this month, they began by starting with an Ali Sethi show to great success. But that was just the beginning.

As co-founder and artistic director, Raania Azam Khan Durrani, noted during the show before Ali Sethi came on and mesmerized everyone, Salt Arts is celebrating Southasia this month.

“On the 11th of March, we are doing perhaps our 12th edition of Southasia Ensemble that was curated by myself and Ahsan Bari (Sounds of Kolachi leader/music producer) back in 2015 and we’re featuring Dina who is from Bangladesh.”

Raania reiterated further, “On 23 March, on Pakistan Day, we are all going to Colombo (Sri Lanka) so if you are in Colombo, please come to the Barefoot Gallery for the show that we are producing as part of Shaan-e-Pakistan closing event; it also features Southasia Ensemble and three beautiful musicians: Hussain Dossa, Ahsan Bari and Rakae Jamil.”

As Salt Arts continues to create curated seasons and pick up some of the best musicians from Southasia, whether from Bangladesh or from home, Pakistan is putting its best foot forward, criss-crossing man-made boundaries because music has the power to bring people together and Salt Arts knows it only too well.
