Last month we reported that actress Mira Sethi, who recently tied the knot to childhood sweetheart Bilal Siddiqi, was gearing up for a theatrical production. She posted a picture of the Urdu translation of William Shakespeare’s tragedy King Lear on her official Instagram handle and captioned it, “This is happening. In Urdu. Directed by Zia Mohyeddin. Overjoyed at the opportunity to work with the Master.”
In another post, Mira wrote that it is, “Such a privilege to be under his (Zia Mohyeddin) tutelage for the next two months.”
Seems like the wait is over. Though we are still waiting for Mira Sethi’s entry in the ongoing drama serial, Ye Dil Mera, featuring Sajal Aly, Ahad Raza Mir and Adnan Siddiqui in principal roles, the actress recently took to Twitter to announce the dates of the theatrical production of Shakespearean classic, King Lear.
“Working with Zia Mohyeddin sb has been punishing, demanding, exhilarating — the experience of a lifetime. King Lear – an Urdu adaptation! – opens in Karachi Dec 19, and runs through Dec 29. Hope to see many of you there!” tweeted Mira Sethi.
The play, which has been translated by Khalid Ahmed, is scheduled to take place from December 19 to December 29, 2019 at the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) in Karachi. We are definitely looking forward to Mira Sethi’s performance in the upcoming adaptation of the famous Shakespearean production.
