Mekaal Hasan, leader of the legendary and critically acclaimed Mekaal Hasan Band (MHB), is scheduled to play a live show in Karachi at the Arts Council on November 15.
Mekaal Hasan, who has an Indo-Pak line-up as well as different musicians playing with him in different cities on different occasions, has finally unveiled the complete line-up for the Karachi show.
Madam Humera Channa played with MHB for the Super Salt inaugural multiple-act gig in 2018. However, she also has her own solo gigs and Mekaal has always known and respected that. This means he collaborates with different vocalists, which is always a surprise. For this particular concert, the line-up comprises Mekaal Hasan (guitar), Muhammed Ahsan (flute), Rassab Amir (lead vocals), Kami Paul (drums), Tipu Khan (keyboards) and Waleed Attique (bass).
Mekaal Hasan is also planning to play a set that will include songs from all three MHB albums: Sampooran, Saptak and Andholan. Among them will be MHB’s biggest hits such as ‘Rabba’, ‘Sajan’, ‘Chal Bulleya’, ‘Jhok Ranjhan’, ‘Andholan’ and ‘Sayon’
The band last played in Karachi during Salt Arts’ inaugural multiple-act show Super Salt 2018 that also featured SomeWhatSuper, Mughal-e-Funk and Khumariyaan.
Presently working on the band’s fourth album, which will focus on qawwali, Mekaal Hasan Band has several awards to its name including Lux Style Award for Singer of the Year; Lux Style Award for Best Artist and Lux Style Award for Best Live Act.
