Noorani is one of the 10 music scholars from across the world to make it to the program that will be held in Berlin, Germany, this month. She is the only Pakistani to represent the country and was selected via worldwide network of Goethe-Institut.

A collaboration between the Goethe-Institut and Pop-Kultur, the scholarship will offer a variety of activities to experience the ‘music city’, Berlin, before the actual festival.

She also lent vocals to a song in Umer Adil’s debut film, Chalay Thay Saath (2017), followed by her debut EP, Munaasib, last year. Her most recent effort is ‘Ye Aaj Mujh Ko Kya Hua’ from Saqib Malik’s Baaji that she sang along Aima Baig.

Coming back to the upcoming fifth annual Goethe Talents program 2019, which is scheduled to take place from August 13 to August 24, it aims to support and connect young, aspiring musicians including singer, songwriters, composers and DJs.

Sherdil to return to cinemas nationwide on Independence Day

Patriotic film Sherdil that released earlier this year (March) and features Mikaal Zulfiqar and Armeena Rana Khan in lead roles is returning to cinemas this Independence Day. The film is directed by Azfar Jafri, who is gearing up for his fifth film, Heer Maan Ja, this Eid ul Azha.

Recently, Cinepax Cinemas announced a schedule for the film’s re-run, which includes six shows across Pakistan.

Actor Mikaal Zulfiqar, who plays the role of a fighter pilot in Sherdil, took to social media to share that the film will be showing in select cinemas on August 14, 2019.

“Running again on 14th August in selected cinemas across Pakistan,” he wrote on his official Instagram handle.

In an earlier interview with Instep, Mikaal shared that Sherdil is a war film and it has been a dream for him to essay the role of a fighter pilot.

“It is predominantly an action movie that highlights the charm of the air force,” he said. The film highlights events before the 1965 Indo-Pak war and follows the story of a young man, who joins the forces in order to protect his country.

Aside from Mikaal and Armeena, the film features Hassan Niazi and Sabeeka Imam in pivotal roles. If you didn’t get to watch the movie in March, here’s your chance.
