The Islamabad run of Anwar Maqsood and Dawar Mehmood’s play Naach Na Jaanay is scheduled to kick off tonight. The theatre production is a prequel to the playwright’s past script Aangan Terha and stars Yasir Hussain in a key role, aside from an ensemble cast.

Islamabad based actor, director and cinematographer Usman Mukhtar, who is winning hearts and stealing the limelight in ongoing drama serial Anaa, will be essaying the role of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Director of the play Dawar played the part during the Karachi run but Usman will be taking up the role for audiences in Islamabad. “I feel excited and nervous at the same time,” he told Instep, adding that the last theatre play he did was in 2015. “Fingers crossed!”

Usman also informed that he has been rehearsing for the role since the last few days. The actor first appeared on the big screen in Janaan, followed by Parchi, and made his television debut earlier this year with Anaa, alongside Naimal Khawar. Viewers have appreciated his work and his screen presence while his onscreen chemistry and love-hate relationship with Naimal is a treat to watch.

Let’s see if Usman pulls off the role of PM Imran Khan in Naach Na Jaanay during the Islamabad run that will come to an end on August 11, right before Eid ul Azha.
