Pakistani singer Sara Haider presented with the prestigious Charles Jehlinger Award

Musician Sara Haider came to prominence first as a backing vocalist in Coke Studio season 7; followed by performing a duet in CS season 8. She became popular for her unique vocals and the latest addition to her achievements is graduating from the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

She became popular for her unique vocals and the latest addition to her achievements is graduating from the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She has also received the Charles Jehlinger Award - being the first Pakistani student at the institute.

The singer’s sister, Erum Haider took to social media to share the news. “Congratulations to the immensely talented Sara Haider who graduated from The Academy Now today, delivered the commencement speech, got the prestigious Charles Jehlinger Award and will be the first Pakistani at Juilliard School’s MFA in fall (with full scholarship). So proud,” she tweeted.

The Charles Jehlinger Award is awarded to the person who comes closest to personifying Jehlinger’s ideals that is the development of the student as a person as well as an artist and a demonstration of a professional attitude towards the art and to the work. Past honorees include the likes of Robert Redford and Spencer Tracy.

The American Academy of Dramatic Arts has produced some of Hollywood’s most well-known actors, including Robert Redford, Grace Kelly, Danny Devito, Hank Azaria, Anne Hathaway, Paul Rudd and Jessica Chastain, among many others.
