Pakistani short Deception heads to Bulgaria

Helmed by young filmmaker Ruhina Nasir, Pakistani short film, Deception, has had multiple screenings at various international film festivals. The good news is that the two-minute short film, produced by GrayScale Productions - who also co-produced Rani - will be screened at more international festivals in 2019.

Helmed by young filmmaker Ruhina Nasir, Pakistani short film, Deception, has had multiple screenings at various international film festivals. The good news is that the two-minute short film, produced by GrayScale Productions - who also co-produced Rani - will be screened at more international festivals in 2019.

The production company took to Instagram to share the news and stated, “Our Nano Short Film Deception continues its run of international screenings well into the New Year, with two recent selections - the first at the Sofia Menar Film Festival, in Bulgaria, January 2019 followed by the Harrogate Film Festival, in the UK, March 2019!”

Deception will have two screenings (January 18 and 25) at the 11th Sofia Menar Film Festival, which commenced from January 15 and will run till January 31, 2019.

In the past Deception has already been screened at 10 international film fests including The Buddha International Film Festival (TBIFF), India; Changing Face International Film Festival, Australia; Rome Independent PRISMA Film Awards; MOTIF Film Festival in Warsaw, Poland and Queen Palm International Film Festival in California, USA, India among others. The short has also picked up two international awards: Best Nano Film of the Month at AAB International Film Festival in India and the award for Best Two Minutes Short at Bengal’s International Short Film Festival, also in India.

Shot at Empress Market in Karachi, Deception revolves around a vendor, who sells vegetables on the streets of Karachi and uses deceptive means to earn money. A chance event puts him face to face with the person he deceives and things take a turn from there.
