As Chand Tara Orchestra (CTO) and Sounds of Kolachi (SOK) made their debut on Coke Studio 11 earlier this year, the former confirmed to Instep that a music video is in the pipeline along with an upcoming record from the super-group.
Now the group has joined forces with Ahsan Bari’s Sounds of Kolachi to create a new project called Paanch, which will be a mixtape. Speaking to Express Tribune, Babar Sheikh explained that under the umbrella of the initiative, five acts will be featured. Said Babar Sheikh to the publication, “Paanch – The Mixtape will be a collaboration between five Pakistani independent music acts, coming together to release music on a single album.”
Scheduled to release in 2019, its main players include Babar Sheikh, Wajiha Naqvi (Coke Studio backing vocalist) and Ahsan Bari. The mixtape will include both bands but other artists as well from Pakistan’s independent music landscape.
In the meantime, while CTO shoot a music video for their next song, ‘Rung’, Ahsan Bari has partnered with Faisal Rafi. He told Instep recently: “We’re producing a song for Cornetto Pop Rock these days. It’s a collaboration; there’s Ali Azmat, Abid Brohi, Khumariyaan and a new band.”
Ahsan Bari also revealed that Sounds of Kolachi plan to release more videos from their first album including “one for the song ‘Chakardar’.”
He added further: “We’ve started working on our second album as well. I will produce it myself with Faisal Rafi,” confirmed Bari.
