Veere Di Wedding, Bollywood’s newest release that stars Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania, may have been banned in Pakistan due to “vulgar content”, the film has attracted a lot of attention on this side of the border for one reason or another. However, before we give you a recap of that, here is something about the film in connection with Pakistan that you would like to know.

Veteran actor-director Jawed Sheikh, who is gearing up for the release of Wajood on Eid ul Fitr, was offered to play the role of Kareena Kapoor’s father in the film, he shared with Instep in an exclusive interview. Had there been no ban on Pakistani artists in India, this would have been his latest Bollywood venture, in addition to several films that he has done in India.

Coming back to the controversies attached to Veere Di Wedding in Pakistan, earlier this month, one of the four leading ladies of the film, Swara Bhaskar called Pakistan a “failing state” in an interview while speaking of the film’s ban here. This was followed by severe backlash for her from Pakistani artists as well as people from her country while Sonam Kapoor came to defend her costar.

Also, all those who have managed to watch the film in Pakistan despite the ban have mostly negative things to say about it. Watch and decide for yourself.
