With social injustices prevailing in our society, more and more people are becoming vocal while a lot of artists are also coming up with initiatives that highlight social issues. After the recent ‘Mein Bhi’ music video, that featured a huge lineup of musicians and spoke about social issues, another socially-relevant song is soon to come out. With vocals and lyrics by Shuja Haider, the upcoming music video is titled ‘Jeevan Daan’ and stars Saba Qamar aside from other artists.

“It talks about women’s rights, child abuse, violence and much more,” Shuja Haider told Instep in a telephonic conversation. “The lyrical content is very strong; it’s not limited to women but also highlights issues surrounding children as well as men.”

When asked about the idea behind the song and if he decided to come out with one given the current dialogue on the ‘Me Too’ campaign, Shuja Haider responded, “I think ‘Me too’ has become more of a trend than awareness. I don’t intend to raise any awareness with the song but just want to convey something important. Music is a language in which you can communicate to many out there. With my upcoming single, I aim to highlight that women’s pride and dignity should be maintained and not just men but society as a whole needs to understand this.”

Directed by Sheraz Malik, the video will be released in a week’s time, according to Shuja Haider.
