Adnan Sarwar’s newest film Motorcycle Girl that is based on the life of Zenith Irfan, generated great reviews from critics and industry insiders post its premiere in Lahore and Karachi. Starring Sohai Ali Abro as the protagonist, the film released in cinemas nationwide on April 20 but, unfortunately, it opened to low box office numbers.

With 2 million on Friday, 2.4 million on Saturday, followed by 2.1 million on Sunday, the film has raked in a total of 6.5 million by the end of its opening weekend.

According to reports, the film is a limited release with limited shows allotted to it. However, Ali Zain of Box Office Detail is of the view that “the massive release wouldn’t have helped the business of the film either as the release was good enough to cater to its target audience. Poor numbers over the weekend indicate that the film will find it tough to generate strong numbers in the long run as Avengers takes away screens next week.”

It is unfortunate that despite being a beautiful and inspirational film, Motorcycle Girl hasn’t managed to pull audiences to cinemas. The film revolves around the life of Zenith, the first female motorcyclist to travel across Pakistan alone on a motorbike. More than an adventure and a travelogue, it is about the relationship of a father and a daughter as she aspires to fulfill her father’s dream of travelling to Khunjerab on a two-wheeler.

Aside from Sohai, the film also features Ali Kazmi, Sarmad Khoosat, Samina Peerzada, Daniyal Raheel, Shamim Hilaly and Mehar Bano in important roles.
