Singer turned actor Junaid Khan, who released a music video with his band Call on March 23 (Pakistan Day), is overwhelmed by the amazing response the song is receiving.

Junaid Khan, lead vocalist of the music group, told Instep, “To be honest our focus was not on what the response would be. We just put our heart and soul in this drum anthem and the response has been phenomenal. We wanted to express our love for our country by re-creating the magic of the ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ chant through the expression of our choice i.e. rock music.” He added, “We didn’t expect for this kind of a response but we knew that the message we wanted to put through would only be possible through the genre that we love and that’s rock. Even the musician community especially seasoned musicians like Ali Zafar and Salman Ahmed appreciated our efforts and we are still getting very positive feedback.”

Call (featuring Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, M. Sultan Raja and Junaid Khan) collaborated with 40 of the most talented drummers and percussionists from across Pakistan. “The best part was that all the percussionists who took part in this movement, did it for the love of their country and didn’t charge anything. It was a 10-hour shoot and the musicians put all their energies into it. And after shooting the whole thing we realised that we have done something that will reach the entire world because something like this has never been done before.”

As for Call’s upcoming projects, Junaid shared, “Call is doing a lot of stuff. Quite recently we have released two tracks; the first one was an anthem ‘Hum Zalmi’ for Pakistan Super League 2018 (PSL) team, Peshawar Zalmi and then the ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ chant. We had plans of releasing a few songs but after these two tracks, we have to go a level higher. We won’t stop here and within a month or two we will be releasing another track. So, there is a lot more in store.”
