Patari CEO on LSA 2018 sweep

The music categories for the 2018 edition of the Lux Style Awards are full of brilliant artists, many of whom have been nominated for the first time. Some past nominees have made the cut as well on the basis of recent work, proving that they have consistency and ideas.


The music categories for the 2018 edition of the Lux Style Awards are full of brilliant artists, many of whom have been nominated for the first time. Some past nominees have made the cut as well on the basis of recent work, proving that they have consistency and ideas.

That said, if there is one name that has sweeped the music categories, it belongs to Patari, the digital streaming platform, with six of its productions nominated in various categories.

In Singer of the Year category, Abid Brohi and SomeWhatSuper are nominated for the song ‘The Sibbi Song’ which was the first single to release from Patari Tabeer, an original music project backed by the streaming service to discover unheard talent from across the country and teaming them up with some of the most innovative music producers in the country. In the same category, Lyari Underground and Dynoman are nominated for ‘Players of Lyari’, another track from the Patari Tabeer series.

Zohaib Kazi and Riaz Qadri have been nominated in Singer of the year as well for the song ‘Takht Hazar’ which is a single off Fanoos, an album created by Kazi in partnership with Patari.

The rest of the two nominations for Patari have come in the Best Music Video Director award, with Qamar Anwar’s ‘Kasani’ (for Lyari Underground’s song from Patari Aslis Vol. 2 series) and Raza Shah’s The Sibbi Song (from Patari Tabeer) picking up one nomination each.

Speaking about this sweep, Patari CEO, Khalid Bajwa said in a statement: “The nominations are a source of huge pride for us, but ultimately all accolades belong to our artists who have taken the industry by storm!”

Patari’s COO, Ahmer Naqvi, added that “each of our productions was guided by the principle that we wanted the artists to have complete creative freedom. It was what differentiated us from the corporate sponsored shows that dominate the industry, and the music’s success validated that approach.”
