Eleven episodes into the play, Anjum Shahzad directorial Khaani manages to keep the viewers engaged even though the pace has slowed down a bit. The story is intriguing, making the spectators wonder what’s going to happen next.

Episode ten revealed that Khaani (Sana Javed) has fallen in love with her mysterious admirer, who is showering her with gifts along with love notes. Mir Hadi (Feroze Khan), who is madly in love with Khaani injures himself so that he can be admitted to the hospital she works at. He is rushed to the hospital and it is there that Khaani sees the tattoo on his arm and realizes that the anonymous lover is none other than Mir Hadi, the same person who murdered her brother.

The latest episode of Khaani that was aired on Monday starts dramatically with Khaani crying her heart out and recalling the horrific events that occurred in the past because of Mir Hadi. Khaani later confesses to her mother that she has fallen in love with her secret admirer, who has turned out to be Mir Hadi. Khaani’s mother consoles her and tells her that she hasn’t committed any sin as she did not know. Initially we were worried that the play had taken a turn for the regressive as Khaani was confessing her love for Mir Hadi, but such is not the case.

Mir Hadi is discharged from the hospital and his father Mir Shah, essayed by Mahmood Aslam, tells him that they have given in to his wishes and promises him that he will ‘get’ Khaani, asserting that she is a mere commodity. Saman Ansari (Sitara, Mir Hadi’s mother) also assures him that they will ask for Khaani’s hand in marriage and that no matter what happens Khaani will be Hadi’s.

On the other hand, we see Khaani’s entire family supporting her and assuring her that she is not at fault. While Mir Hadi is overjoyed with his parents’ decision, Khaani is confused and restless. She decides to meet Hadi to confront the situation. While Mir Hadi initially feels she is seeking him out to confess feelings of love, she actually snubs him and burns all his presents right in front of his eyes, leaving him disappointed and perplexed.

It must be said that Sana Javed is very effective in the opening scene of the episode, in which she is having a meltdown. However, there’s no denying the fact that Feroze Khan as Mir Hadi is carrying the play forward. He is still the centre of attention and leaves impact whenever he appears on the screen; it is Khan’s brilliant performance that fans look forward to every week though and his fanfare is spreading across the border too. There are a number of fan pages on YouTube, Instagram and Twitter that are dedicated to Feroze Khan and Khaani.

Will this fanfare stay as strong or will it subside by the end of the serial? Only time will tell…
