Focus Pakistan, a two-day conference dedicated to the business of entertainment and production, is all set to return with its second edition this month after making an inaugural appearance circa 2016.
As reported earlier, the event (beginning on November 25) is set to pay tribute to four ‘icons of industry’ such as Imran Aslam, Bushra Ansari, Samina Peerzada and Shoaib Mansoor. It also includes a short-film festival called ‘the film market’ that counts as jury industry experts such as Jami, Nabeel Qureshi, Asim Raza, Wajahat Rauf, Nadeem Baig, Marina Khan, Mehreen Jabbar and Angelina Malik. While the film-market event will take place on November 26, the day before is packed with a number of sessions on a variety of topics such as ‘Music – Then and Now’, ‘Licensing and Censorship – the way forward’, ‘Talent Management Rights of an Artist’, ‘Filmmaking 101 – From Script to Screen’, Lipton – Chotu Case Study [Corporate and Social Sector joining hands]’ and ‘Knorr – Boriyat Busters and Beyond [Making a case for Children’s Programming]’.
The 2017 edition will also include a number of speakers including Sajid Hasan, Sohail Hashmi, Sohail Javed, Yasra Rizvi, Zhalay Sarhadi, Adeel Hussain, Asim Raza, Hasan Zaidi, Khalid Anam, Amir Zia, Misbah Khalid and Erum Binte Shahid.
The conference that counts Atiqa Odho as chairperson and founder was launched last year during which the iconic Ghazanfar Ali was honoured as living legend of the entertainment and production industry while Zohaib Kazi’s experimental outfit, Karma Kollective took the stage with performances by Zeb Bangash and Rachel Viccaji.
