Sachal Jazz Ensemble performs live at UN General Assembly

The concert was titled Music Beyond Borders where the band played their blend of instrumental music that is a combination of classical and jazz music. The gig was meant to highlight Pakistani culture and promote the soft image of Pakistan abroad. According to United Nations Deputy Secretary, General Amina Mohammed, the world body appreciated and acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts for peace.

The year 2017 marks 70 years of Pakistan’s independence and like every year Independence Day was celebrated with a fierce spirit. Aside from events, activities and concerts in Pakistan, some live gigs and performances took place in other countries as well. One such effort was made by Pakistani music group, namely the Sachal Jazz Ensemble, who performed at the United Nations General Assembly on the occasion of 14th August.

According to United Nations Deputy Secretary, General Amina Mohammed, the world body appreciated and acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts for peace.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UN, Maliha Lodhi was also present on the occasion. While speaking to the UN General Assembly, Lodhi said, “Cultural exchange will increase mutual respect and harmony. We have to bridge the gaps and this can be done through music.”

Attended by Envoys from China, Russia and United States, among others, the event was organized by Pakistan’s permanent mission at the UN.
