While nothing is confirmed, sources have told the Hollywood Reporter that Perry is in active talks with ABC to sign on as a judge on the new and improved American Idol, which is all set to premiere in 2018.
This shows that ABC is really going all out for its upcoming season because having Perry on board certainly means a huge budget. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Perry has previously passed on multiple eight figure offers from NBC’s The Voice.
While the fate of American Idol’s reinvention remains to be seen, 2018 is proving to be a busy year for the singer as she is working on releasing her new album and is ready to go on tour as well.
According to TMZ, ABC will be making an official announcement sometime this week.
