She is also gearing up for the release of her debut Hollywood film Baywatch alongside Dwayne Johnson which will come out on May 10, this year. The actress is currently on a visit to India before she heads back for the promotions of Baywatch and she has signed on for a Bollywood film which will be a biopic.
According to Mid-Day, the actress has been roped in to play late astronaut Kalpana Chawla in a biopic. The untitled film will be directed by Priya Mishra.
“I have been working on it for the past seven years,” the debutant director noted. “A new production banner will back the project. I was last heading a TV channel creatively and post 2011, quit to pursue filmmaking. This is one of the two scripts that I have written.”
According to reports, Chopra has been attached to the project for the past one year and the script of the film has also been locked. Kalpana Chawla was the first Indian woman astronaut in space. She died in 2003 during her second expedition along with six other crew members when the space shuttle exploded.
The actress last appeared in Jai Gangaajal in India and this will be her second biopic, followed by Mary Kom.
