Concerts in Karachi are in full swing nowadays and last weekend’s performance proved that Karachi can entertain huge crowds too. A concert at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) accommodated crowd of more than 4000 people last weekend and saw two huge performers share a single stage.

Ali Zafar and Atif Aslam are both huge musical acts which is why it was surprising and exciting to see both musicians perform at the same event. The evening was hosted by rapper/comedian Ali Gul Pir who started the show with his song ‘Taroo Maroo’.

Ali Zafar then took the stage and was greeted by a roaring audience who sang along with his classic songs, such as ‘Rangeen,’ and ‘Channo’. Other songs performed by Zafar include his PSL anthem ‘Ab Khel Jamay Ga’, as well as a medley of Bollywood classics such as ‘Aaj Kal Teray Meray Pyaar Ke Charchay,’ ‘Bachna Ae Haseenon,’ and ‘Papa Kehte Hain’. While these songs are fun to listen to, we do wish that Zafar had stuck to original music as he has a long list of successful commercial tracks that are perfect for such occasions and Bollywood tracks are simply not needed.

However, it was Atif Aslam’s entry on stage that had the crowd going wild. The crowd could be heard chanting Aslam’s name right before he took the stage and opened the show with his latest Pepsi jingle ‘Jee Lay Har Pal.’
