One of the biggest celebrities in Hollywood opens up about the downside of fame.

While Lady Gaga’s musical theatrics may seem out of this world, the singer has time and time again proven that she is extremely down to earth. She is the first celebrity to lend a helping hand: She was one of the first to reach out to Kesha during her sexual harassment trial and also showed her support to rapper Kanye West when he was recently hospitalized. Gaga was also teary-eyed when Selena Gomez made her acceptance speech at the AMAs.

Therefore, it’s clear that the artist has no problem being real. And she further proved this during an interview when she discussed the negative aspects of being famous. While common people are fascinated with the glitz and glamour, Gaga revealed how being famous can take its toll on you.

“As soon as I go out into the world, I belong, in a way, to everyone else,” said Gaga on CBS Sunday Morning. “It’s legal to follow me, it’s legal to stalk me at the beach; I can’t call the police or ask them to leave. And I took a long hard look at that property line and I said well, you know, if I can’t be free out there, I’m going to be free in here,” she said as she pointed to her heart.

Wiping away her tears, the singer added, “I miss people. I miss, you know, going anywhere and meeting a random person and saying ‘Hi’ and having a conversation about life. I love people.”

Gaga didn’t hold back on discussing what love means to her either and how she spent a lot of time ‘crying’ and in ‘a lot of pain’ because of her split with fiancé Taylor Kinney. The couple ended their five year relationship earlier this year.

“I think women love very hard. We love men. We just love with everything we have,” she said to the CBS correspondent Lee Cowan. “And sometimes I don’t know that that love is met with the type of dignity that we wish it would be met with. You know, we’re not trying to make you less of a man.

We just want you to love us as deeply and as wholesomely and as fully as we love you.”
