Pakistan Film Festival, the first of its kind taking place outside Pakistan, will be held in New York from December 3-4. The initiative, as announced in a press release, is part of the continuing effort by Pakistan’s UN Mission, led by Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi, to project the country’s soft image. The committee in charge has selected an interesting mix of Pakistani films including the brand new Dobara Phir Sey and Lahore Se Aagey, which will premiere at the event. Others film to feature at the festival include Actor in law, Pakistan’s Oscar nomination Mah e Mir, Oscar award winner Sharmeen Obaid’s animated film 3 Bahadur, Dukhtar, Dance Kahani and Ho Mann Jahan. While award shows in Pakistan are owned and operated by various media channels, a conscious effort has been made to ensure equal representation of all films at the festival in New York.

Talking about the Festival the Ambassador said, “Young film makers in Pakistan are producing an incredibly diverse and entertaining array of movies, which are contributing to the cultural renaissance underway in the country.”

A star studded mix of celebrities will be flying to New York for the event, PR Consultant for the festival, Frieha Altaf confirmed. There will be representation of all films being screened so we expect to see Mahira Khan, Fahad Mustafa, Adeel Husain, Sanam Saeed, Saba Qamar, Iman Ali and Hamza Ali Abbasi heading out for it.
