Finally, someone from across the border has spoken up regarding this issue. Ever since the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena announced the-48-hour ultimatum against Pakistani artists, there has been confusion and panic about what is going to happen. Pakistani artists have been fearful for their work as well as their lives, and we were wondering when anyone would finally address this issue. Karan Johar unsurprisingly has spoken up on this issue because his film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is also under threat at the moment for featuring Fawad Khan in it.

The 44-year-old director said that banning Pakistani artists is not the solution to the problem. He also added that he feels scared and vulnerable while even addressing this issue. “If my film is targeted because of this, it will make me exceptionally sad because my intent was always to put out a creative product out of love and nothing else,” said a fearful Johar on a news channel.

Johar wasn’t just defending Pakistani artists but also himself, possibly in fear of backlash to his statements. “We are a creative industry. Please leave us alone. We make movies, we spread love. There are millions in the world, in our country who are happy with the work we do, allow us that.”

While Johar may have come out with a positive statement, the problem is only growing, where MNS workers are now also demanding that films like ADHM and Raees, featuring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan respectively, delete all the scenes that feature them. Amid growing unrest, Fawad Khan has also been dropped from the first episode of Koffee with Karan, where Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt will be opening the show instead.
