Actor and producer Will Smith, who was seen in India recently where he celebrated the night away with Bollywood stars at a party hosted by one Akshay Kumar, is back in the spotlight in a big way.

First is the curious case of his comeback film, the anti-superhero juggernaut called Suicide Squad. Though the film earned terrible reviews upon opening, it’s collected 634 million dollars on the global box office according to Forbes magazine. And many, if not all, credit the film’s success to Will Smith, a bona fide movie star whose presence alone took the film from pure obscurity to global recognition.

“Suicide Squad makes the case for Smith’s continued star power and the general value of movie stars” wrote Forbes in a piece on the film.

Smith, who is still in India and is heading to Salman Khan’s farmhouse for another celebration party, is also making news because of his sexual orientation with many gossip rags claiming that the actor is gay and his marriage is on the rocks. Another hoax story doing rounds of the Internet features Smith’s son, Jaden, who is also a rapper and actor and states that he has committed suicide, which is not true.

Perhaps the one silver lining is that after the success of Suicide Squad, Smith is back on the list of prolific filmmakers. Though he’s signed on to star in the next two Bad Boy sequel films, its his next film Collateral Beauty with Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren and Keira Knightley that could fetch another Oscar nod for the star.
