SUKKUR: A man and his four sons have confessed to the alleged murder of 11 members of their own family — including women and children — police said late Wednesday, reportedly to frame rivals over a land dispute in Sukkur district's Pano Aqil tehsil.
The plan to kill the family members was allegedly hatched by the "man of the house", police said after taking the statements of the suspects.
Among the victims were the wife of the primary suspect, four daughters, and three sons, as well as a daughter-in-law, granddaughter, and grandson.
According to the senior superintendent of police (SSP) for Sukkur, Irfan Sammo, the four sons of the prime suspect "aided and abetted the murders and have confessed to doing so".
The suspects allegedly killed all of their family members at the same time, Sammo said. Further investigation was underway, he added.
The suspects were arrested from Ghotki, where they had allegedly fled after the killings.
Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the Inspector General (IG) of Police.
Shah had also directed the authorities to look into every aspect of the murder during their investigation and ordered police officials to extend full cooperation to the victims' family.
The minister was informed that the accused had been arrested.
