Mosul, Iraq: At least 45 people died when a ferry carrying families sank Thursday on the Tigris River in Iraq´s northern city of Mosul during Kurdish New Year celebrations, an interior ministry official said.
"The Civil Defence has already counted 45 dead in the sinking of this boat that was carrying families and children going to a tourist complex in Mosul," said the official who did not want to be named.
