Pakistani-American actor Kumail Nanjiani may not have gotten hands on the Oscar for his original screenplay ‘The Big Sick’ but things are still looking bright for him as he joins in talks with Amy Adams and Mark Ruffalo for a new film.
The 40 year old actor, also known for his stand up comedy, is in talks with Hollywood’s acclaimed actors Amy Adams and Mark Ruffalo to star in a post-9/11 drama ‘The True American’, based on its namesake novel written by Anand Giridharadas.
In the Pablo Larrain directorial, Nanjiani is to reportedly play the character of Rais Bhuiyan, a Muslim immigrant working at a convenience store in the U.S state of Texas where he escapes death, by a whisker, at the hands of a white supremacist named Mark Stroman, played by Ruffalo.
Although no affirmations have been made by any of the actors, sources have revealed that they have shown keen interest in being part of the film.
