SRINAGAR: An Indian Army Officer of Major rank and a soldier were killed in exchange of fire with the gunmen in Indian occupied Kashmir, Indian media reported.
The incident took place in Shopian district, Indian officials said. Another soldier sustained injuries, they added.
Meanwhile, two Kashmiris were martyred by Indian security forces in Gopalpora village of district Kugam early on Thursday.
Also, on Thursday complete shutdown was observed in occupied Kashmir Wednesday after three Kashmiris were martyred by Indian troops in Pulwama, Kashmir Media Service reported.
Call for the strike was given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.
The authorities had imposed curfew and other restrictions in Khanyar, Maharaj Gunj, Safakadal, Rainawari, Kralkhud, Nowhatta and Maisuma areas of Srinagar to prevent people from coming to the streets.
