China takes notice of escalating India-Pakistan tensions

BEIJING: China cautioned both India and Pakistan on Thursday and urged both countries to curb rising tensions by resolving issues through mutual consultations. 

According to details, the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Minister said that China was fully aware of rising tensions between India and Pakistan. The spokesperson expressed his concern at the escalating tensions between both nuclear-armed neighbours and was also alarmed at the situation in occupied Kashmir. 

He also said that the Kashmir issue was a historic dispute which should be resolved through dialogue between India and Pakistan. The spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Minister said that India and Pakistan should resume talks with each other and promote cooperation. 

He expressed the hope that Pakistan and India will both play a responsible role in maintaining peace and stability in the region. 

India and Pakistan exchanged fire at the Line of Control on late Wednesday night, as the former falsely claimed that it had conducted surgical strike against the latter. ISPR rejected Indian claims of conducting surgical strike in Pakistan and claimed that a 'befitting' response had been given to the hostile Indian forces. ISPR disclosed that two soldiers had been martyred in the attack while Pakistan's security forces had destroyed three Indian check-posts. 

US Secretary of State John Kerry cautioned India against escalating tensions with Pakistan on the same day the two countries were embroiled in a short conflict along the Line of Control.
