BENGALURU: A concert involving Pakistani artist Shafqat Amanat Ali was cancelled in the Indian city on Wednesday, after a threat was issued by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, who had warned all Pakistani artists in India to leave the country.
According to details, Shafqat Amanat Ali was scheduled to perform at a concert in a Bengaluru mall on September 30, which was cancelled on Wednesday by organizers. A radio station, who was organizing the concert, cited deteriorating relations between the two nuclear-armed nations as the reason for cancelling the concert.
"Due to the deterioration of relation between the neighbours country we have instructed not to conduct any activity involving artist from Pakistan at the venue," read a letter written by the Bengaluru forum mall's authorities to the jurisdictional police.
Vishwa Hindu Parisht (VHP) and Bajrang Dal had written a letter to the city police commissioner and had asked them to deny permission to conduct the concert, since it featured a Pakistani artist while relations between the two neighbours were so tense.
Earlier, Pakistani artist Fawad Khan also left India when extremist Indian organization Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) gave him a 48-hour ultimatum to leave the country.
