Prince Harry’s pay check for grief masterclass comes to light
Inside the Masterclass that’s taken the world by storm & why he couldn’t function away from the Royal Family
A lot happened during the Megxit era, some of which has only been revealed by the Duke himself, during a in a video for the American education platform MasterClass.
In it depression, pain, PTSD, adrenaline crashes and panic was discussed at length by the spare who moved away to Canada and the US to restart his life as a financial independent royal, with Archie and Meghan in toe.
How Much Money Did Prince Harry Make?
What hasn’t been talked about enough is how much money the Duke pocketed for his time on the Masterclass. According to Forbes the figure was in the hundreds of thousands. More specifically, “up to $100K”, plus 30 per cent of any subscription revenue generated by their courses.
He made this amount while sharing the stage with co-instructor and American neuroscientist Dr Mary-Frances O'Connor.
What’s also pertinent to mention is that, access to the lecture costs between £10 and £19 a month.
What Did Prince Harry Say?
A lot was shared, and much of it came out when Prince Harry wore his heart on his sleeve. in his own words he said, “you would think I had the best help in the world. I'm a prince, for God's sake, but I was still grieving and didn't have any place to put those feelings,' he said, describing emotions he carried for '15 or 20 years'.”
“We moved to Canada to get some space away from everything and simply think. Within two or three days of leaving that stressful environment, I experienced an adrenaline crash unlike anything I'd ever felt before. It was as though I needed stress for my brain to function. I became useless around the house. I slipped into depression for about two weeks and felt like I couldn't function without adrenaline.”
However, it wasn’t all pain and heartbreak. He also offered insights into how he recovered, and manage to keep his head above water while navigating those harsh waters.
According to the Duke, “the biggest factor for me is the energy, joy and happiness I get from being with my family, especially our children, and from being on the ground doing my work.
'The key to maintaining that balance is spending no more than ten days away from my wife and kids. It's about balancing my work and sense of purpose with being a dad and a husband.”
What Did Prince Harry Do To Heal From Dana’s Pain?
One topic that was a big part of the Masterclass was how he eventually healed and became a major point of conversation because of Harry’s earlier admission that he ‘did not cry for almost 20 years’ after her death but “t hinks of her 'pretty much every night and then most mornings”.
His holy grail became Diana's perfume which he found decades later, in an effort to unlock his grief.
He described the scent as a miracle worker because it made him feel like he got “transported to another time.” He also added, “it unlocked everything that had been locked away. Spraying my mother's scent was almost like knocking certain bricks through so that I could see through and certain memories and experiences could start seeping back.”
Even his concluding words featured Diana, and he said, “everything I do, everything I put my energy towards, I hope that my mother will be proud of. Trying to continue and protect her legacy, what I didn't realise was that the work I was drawn to was so similar to the work she was doing.”
