New York Giants pass rusher Brian Burns is believed to have torn his ACL during Sunday’s 12-7 victory over the Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN and NFL Network.

Burns suffered the knee injury during the fourth quarter after former teammate Austin Schlottmann moved to block him.

The 28-year-old immediately grabbed his right leg before being helped off the field and taken to the locker room.

Giants coach John Harbaugh said Burns would undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.

"There is some hope there, but we won't know until we see the MRI," Harbaugh told reporters after the game.

Burns entered Sunday already dealing with a low ankle sprain that kept him out of practice throughout the week.

He was used primarily in pass-rushing situations against Tennessee.

If the ACL tear is confirmed, Burns is likely to miss the remainder of the season, with Kayvon Thibodeaux expected to take on a significantly larger role.

"Everybody knows what Burns brings to the team. I'm hoping it's nothing too bad," teammate Abdul Carter said.
