James Blunt didn't exactly volunteer himself for Celebrity Traitors, it turns out.

The 52-year-old singer made the confession during his recent appearance on The One Show alongside former contestant Joe Marler, revealed that his wife, Sofia Wellesley, was the one who signed him up for the show without much warning.

"I haven't watched much TV and I found out from my wife that I was on Celebrity Traitors, she signed me up for it," he admitted during the interview.

Blunt admitted he doesn't watch much television, so once he found out he'd been cast, he had to quickly binge through the previous season to catch up before filming.

"I was given a speed-watch of the whole thing," he further confessed.

Asked which past contestant he hoped to emulate during his own time on the show, Blunt named Marler as his top pick, joking that the two seemed like long-lost brothers given how similar they are.

Marler returned the compliment, saying he'd predicted early on that Blunt would end up being a standout player once the cast list was revealed.

Blunt remained tight-lipped about how far he actually progressed in the competition, which was filmed at Scotland's Ardross Castle.

He's one of 21 celebrities appearing in the show's second season, joining a lineup that includes Bella Ramsey, Miranda Hart, Michael Sheen, and Ross Kemp, among others, all competing for a chance to win £100,000 for charity.

Celebrity Traitors premieres October 1 with an extended episode, followed by a bonus special. Regular episodes will air Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m.
