Mr. T slams new Netflix doc about him: 'You're gonna think I'm some monster'

Mr. T is angry about a new Netflix documentary about his life, saying it left out important parts of his story.

The film, called Untold Mr. T: I Pity the Fool, starts streaming September 8. In a new interview, the actor and wrester called the film "garbage."  

"It pissed me off, because they didn't cover a lot of stuff," Mr. T told the Guardian newspaper.

He said the filmmakers spent two days interviewing his pastor, but only used 30 seconds of that footage. 

“That’s what we call, in the black community, a white man wanting to change the story and control the narrative,” the actor continued. “If you don’t know me, you’re gonna think I’m some monster.”

Mr. T also didn't like that the film included negative comments from his old agent, Peter Young, about a movie titled Freaked that he made in 1993. He says he asked to see the documentary before it was finished but was told no. He didn't see it until about a month ago.

“We started filming last year at Easter. I didn’t see the finished product until a month ago,” Mr. T claimed. “I didn’t see nothing on film. So now I see it, I say, ‘God dammmmmmmmnmn, ain’t this something.’ We told them, ‘Don’t put Peter in my doc’, but he did.”

He said he wanted to get angry at Netflix but decided to "take the high road" instead.

The film also brings up claims that Mr. T only went to events if they sent a white limousine for him. He pushed back on this, asking why that makes him a bad person. He pointed out that Elvis Presley also rode in a white limousine.

Even though he's upset about the documentary, Mr. T said he's happy with his life and has already done everything he wanted to do.

He added in part, “My mother told me, ‘Son, there are some things that money just can’t buy.’ Like the poem says, if you can walk with kings and queens and not lose your common touch then you will be a man my son. How many people have sold their soul to the devil, chasing money? I’m not chasing the dollar. I never did.”
