Brad Pitt makes shocking sobriety confession after seven years alcohol-free

Brad Pitt has been sober for the last seven years. But not anymore, as he offered wine to a reporter who had recently interviewed him.

Speaking to Esquire magazine, he confessed, accompanied by laughter, “I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the waggon."

Interviewed from his $12 million home in Los Angeles, Pitt seems to be in a comfortable state as he opens further about breaking his seven-year sobriety streak.

The Academy-winning actor's previous bouts of alcoholism cast a dark shadow on his life; his latest revelation, to put it mildly, comes as a surprise.

However, the Fight Club star stressed that he is keeping his drinking firmly in check.

“In a more restrained manner. I got overconfident a couple times and went, "Yep, nope, not good for me,” he said, adding, “Not in big quantities."

But the F1 actor quipped, “I can have a few glasses of wine, but he can’t have a lot. I have to be professional about it."

Pitt and alcohol had a contentious relationship; the latter was allegedly involved during a reported altercation in his family at the fateful flight in 2016, which triggered the breakdown of his marriage with Angelina Jolie.

Soon after the alleged incident, the actor had given up alcohol, as he explained in the interview that the alleged shocking incident in his family had him feeling "suicidal".

“The pain was so oppressive that I wasn’t going to act on this, but I could feel—I could feel the cold steel of the bullet in my head, and it felt like relief,” Pitt shared while concluding his remarks.
