Arnold Schwarzenegger rings in 79th birthday with fitness challenge

Arnold Schwarzenegger just marked his 79th birthday by hitting the gym and sharing an insider look at his birthday workout.

The actor and former California governor shared some photos from the Gold's Gym in Venice, California, along with a strict declaration.

"I turn 79 today," the Terminator star began in his birthday note that he shared in the caption. "I don't want any gifts," he elaborated.

Instead, he encouraged people to join his fitness app, Arnold's Pump Club, and complete four workout programs to receive a free year of membership.

Schwarzenegger said the app is about helping people live healthier lives rather than making money. He explained that he has spent decades encouraging people to exercise and hopes to inspire millions to stay active.

The bodybuilding legend also received a hearty birthday message from his daughter, Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt. 

The 36-year-old NY Times-bestselling author shared a collection of family photos and referred to Schwarzenegger as "Opa," the German word for grandfather.

"Happy birthday, Dad!" the influencer wrote in the caption. "So lucky you're ours… and even luckier our kids get you as Opa."

Schwarzenegger shares four children with his former wife, journalist Maria Shriver, which includes Katherine, Christina, Patrick and Christopher. The couple separated in 2011, and their divorce was finalised in 2021. He is also the father of Joseph Baena, whom he shares with former housekeeper Mildred Baena.
