Kenneth Branagh roped in for Paramount+ forthcoming drama 'Laird'
Kenneth Branagh also serves as executive producer on 'Laird'
Kenneth Branagh, the Academy-winning star, is all set to join a new Paramount+ drama titled Laird.
Jez Butterworkd, John Butterworth, and Georgia Lee will serve as creators, according to Deadline.
In addition to them, Branagh will also work as executive producer, while Joe Wright will direct the first pilot episode.
Regarding Laird, Jane Wiseman, who is at Paramount+ Originals, has only praise for the series.
“At its heart, Laird is about one man standing his ground against unchecked wealth and power,” she said.
“There’s something universally resonant about watching someone fight to protect what matters most, and with Kenneth Branagh leading the series and an equally remarkable creative team, we can’t wait for audiences to root for the Laird of Castle Drummoch."
Meanwhile, the Laird's official logline reads, "An epic family saga in which a proud Scot defies a shadowy American billionaire hellbent on buying up the glens."
"Amidst family feuds, buried secrets and star-crossed romances, the Laird of Castle Drummoch (Branagh) remains determined to protect his ancestral lands from oligarchical land grabbing," the synopsis said.
