According to Variety, Nolan’s film inspired youth to explore the original work. Youngsters reportedly preferred listening or reading The Odyssey before its release.

It is pertinent to mention that Homer’s epic is one of the most famous works of classical literature. It follows the Greek hero Odysseus and his grueling 10-year journey to return home to Ithaca after the 10-year Trojan War.

Spotify revealed to the outlet, “Across 91 audiobook editions in 10 languages, ‘The Odyssey’ has now been listened to on Spotify for the equivalent of more than 43 years of continuous playback.”

Reflecting on the revived interest, the senior editor for audiobooks at the streaming giant, Lena Yang shared, “It’s always exciting to see beloved classics find new audiences.”

“Audiobooks offer a fresh way to experience timeless tales, and it’s especially rewarding to see listeners returning to ‘The Odyssey’ in such a meaningful way,” she added further.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, released on 17 July, featured a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and more.

The film opened to an estimated $264.1 million worldwide, exceeded box office expectations and has already generated significant awards buzz.
