President Donald Trump said Monday Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested if he comes to New York for the United Nations General Assembly in September.

Taking to Truth Social, he wrote, "Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested, in any way, shape, or form, while in the United States of America."

Trump argued his Israeli counterpart is involved in confronting Iran.

"He is fighting against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which recently killed 52,000 innocent protestors, and has spent the last 47 years killing American Soldiers, and others."

Following the defense, the president moved to hit at his political opponents, describing them as propelling Iran into what he described as a spiral of destruction.

"The only ones that should be arrested are the people that led Iran into this unprecedented SPIRAL OF DEATH AND DESTRUCTION, something that should have been dealt with years ago, by previous Presidents! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

Trump's tweet, it appears, comes in response to New York mayor Zohran Mamdani's tweet about ways to arrest Netanyahu if he visits New York.
