Will Smith could become involved in the ongoing lawsuit between his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and his former friend, Bilaal Salaam.

Newly filed court documents state that Salaam has asked to question the actor, 57, under oath as part of his legal case against Jada, 54. An email dated July 7 shows Salaam requesting that Will appear for a deposition.

However, Jada's legal team rejected the request, saying there was no reason to discuss it because Will is not a party in the lawsuit. They also said he has not been served with a legal subpoena requiring him to testify.

The lawsuit began in December 2025 when Salaam filed a $3 million complaint against Jada. He claims the actress confronted and threatened him during an incident at a hotel in California in September 2021. Jada has denied the allegations.

Earlier this year, Jada won a court order requiring Salaam to pay nearly $33,000 to cover part of her legal fees and costs.

In separate court filings, Jada's lawyers also accused Salaam of failing to provide important evidence. They have asked the court to require him to hand over recordings of conversations related to the case, along with medical records supporting his claim of emotional distress, for which he is seeking millions in damages.

The legal dispute became more complicated in May when Will Smith's ex-wife, Sheree Zampino, filed a separate $1 million lawsuit against Salaam, accusing him of slander and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The next hearing in Jada and Salaam's case is scheduled for August 19.
