Gracie Abrams reveals one life regret as she gears to release new album
Gracie Abrams’ upcoming album highlights her turbulent relationship with her parents during her teens
Gracie Abrams has revealed the one thing she wishes she could take back from her teenage years, admitting she believes she "took years" off the lives of her famous parents.
The 26-year-old singer made the heartfelt confession while promoting her new album, Daughter From Hell, which is released on July 17, opening up about growing up as the daughter of filmmaker J.J. Abrams and television producer Katie McGrath.
Speaking to Capital FM's Jordan North during A Very British Day Out, Gracie reflected on how differently she now views her teenage years.
"At this stage in my life, I can only imagine if I had a child that was visibly in the middle of something halfway dark, I would've been kept up at night," she said.
Gracie continued, "I just feel quite bad for the adults in my life. I feel like I took years off their lives and they confirmed that's true."
She then addressed her parents directly, saying: "Sorry mum, sorry dad."
"I do consistently think about this, as you evolve and come into yourself more, I want to apologise for being kind of non-verbal in high school sometimes,” the singer further mentioned.
Gracie is the daughter of acclaimed director and producer J.J. Abrams, whose credits include Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Star Trek. Her mother, Katie McGrath, is a successful television producer.
Despite growing up in one of Hollywood's best-known creative families, Gracie has forged an impressive career of her own, becoming one of music's fastest-rising stars thanks to her emotionally relatable songwriting.
During the interview, radio host Jordan North treated Gracie to a quintessential British experience with lunch at London's iconic Poppies Fish & Chips in Soho.
The pair tucked into battered sausages, chips, mushy peas and gravy, with Gracie clearly enjoying the experience.
"This is already the best interview I've ever done," she joked. "Let's not talk about anything else."
The emotional interview comes just as Gracie prepares to release her latest record, Daughter From Hell, before heading out on her biggest tour yet.
Her Look At My Life tour kicks off on December 2 in Denver, Colorado, before travelling across North America and Europe, concluding in Barcelona, Spain, on May 28, 2027.
