As per the source, the couple had been quietly struggling for months.

Meanwhile, another source told the outlet that Jack "was devastated when he realized Margaret was pulling away. He kept asking her not to give up on them because he truly believed they could work through anything.”

As per the former couple's pals, Jack's perfectionist streak often created friction.

Despite this, friends are not ruling out the possibility of reconciliation.
