Verizon outage leaves thousands without mobile service

Verizon Wireless appeared to suffer a widespread outage on Tuesday, with thousands of users reporting service disruptions across the United States, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.

More than 8,000 users had reported problems with the carrier by 3:43 PM PT, Downdetector.com said. The number of reports later climbed above 10,000 as complaints continued to rise.

Most users reporting issues said they were experiencing problems with mobile phone service, including dropped connections and network disruptions.

The scale and cause of the reported disruption were not immediately clear, and Verizon had not publicly commented on the issue at the time of reporting.

Users across social media also reported trouble making calls, sending texts and accessing mobile data during the apparent outage.

The disruption comes as telecom outages continue to draw attention due to their impact on communication, emergency services and mobile internet access.

It remains unclear how many customers were affected nationwide.
